Lucky Charms Coupons

Lucky Charms found their way to the American cereal market in 1964. The cereal features a leprechaun as a mascot, and the charms were originally modeled after shapes found on charm bracelets. The leprechaun is now known as Lucky the Leprechaun, and was voiced by actor Arthur Anderson for nearly three decades. Although Anderson was not of Irish descent, he adopted an Irish accent for the character of Lucky the Leprechaun.

The toasted-oat cereal has marshmallow bits in multiple colors to appeal to children. The cereal’s oat pieces were not initially sweetened, but sugar was added after lackluster sales of Lucky Charms in the first few years. The initial line-up of marshmallow bits in Lucky Charms consisted of  green clovers, orange stars, pink hearts and  yellow moons.

General Mills produces Lucky Charms, and online Lucky Charms coupons can help you save money on the “magically delicious” cereal. Although Lucky Charms was not manufactured with whole grains when it was introduced decades ago, today General Mills produces all its cereals with whole grains. One serving of Lucky Charms contains 110 calories, and features two grams of protein and two grams of fiber.

The theme song for Lucky Charms contained the memorable catchphrase of “They're magically delicious!” in the 1980s, but the brand now advertises with a new jingle that describes the contents of the cereal box. Current formulations of Lucky Charms still have the pink hearts and green clovers, but have changed the other marshmallow shapes at times. Other popular sugary cereals for children include Cap’n Crunch and Apple Jacks. Parents can save money on the sweet treats with Cap’n Crunch coupons.

In Irish mythology, leprechauns are fairies that take the shape of old men, and are no taller than a child. While there is no connection to cereal in Irish folklore, leprechauns instead spend their time making shoes and squirreling away gold at the end of the rainbow. Interestingly, earlier depictions of the leprechaun showed them as wearing red coats instead of green coats.

While Lucky the Leprechaun is a popular mascot, he has not quite joined the ranks of Toucan Sam for Froot Loops and Tony the Tiger for Frosted Flakes. Save money with Froot Loops coupons and Frosted Flakes coupons.
